Asbestos Remediation

Remediating an asbestos problem involves determining the presence of asbestos and taking steps to make sure all of the asbestos has been removed. Remediation refers to the entire process of solving the problem of presence of asbestos in your home or business.

Our remediation services are considered complete when the area, which has undergone asbestos abatement, is cleaned up and made safe again for habitation.

Like the asbestos abatement that precedes it, the confirmation of successful asbestos remediation encompasses several steps:

  • Asbestos abatement and removal has been completed.
  • Supervisor conducts a visual inspection is performed to make sure all asbestos material, including debris, has been removed.
  • Initial cleaning is done by wet wiping all surfaces in the work area.
  • A lockdown-encapsulated shellac is applied to all exposed surfaces and allowed to dry.
  • The protective polyethylene plastic is removed.
  • HEPA vacuuming and wiping of all areas is done and allowed to dry.
  • Second visual inspection by supervisor to ensure all debris, residue pools of liquid and asbestos-coated materials have been removed.
  • Supervisor verifies that adequate cleaning has been completed.
  • Air is sampled and tested (results within 48 hours.) to confirm abatement/remediation has been successful:
  • Negative pressure is stopped.
  • All equipment is removed.
  • Decontamination enclosures and critical barriers are disassembled.
  • Removal of waste to authorized landfills is documented.
  • All contents and furniture is brought back in and set up in original positions.
